What the journey looks like
You fly into Jeddah (JED) for Makkah, or into Madinah (MED) to begin there, and home from the other end. Most UK departures are one-stop through a Gulf or Turkish hub, and a direct routing is worth asking about when your dates allow it. Ihram is entered before the meeqat; on the approach into Jeddah the crew announce it. A vehicle meets you on arrival, and the move between the two cities is usually the Haramain train, roughly two to two and a half hours, with the station transfers included.

Meals and gifts are personal spending on top unless your package says otherwise. Every package document lists what it holds, line by line, so nothing is assumed.
Your visa
Which document you travel on depends on your passport. Citizens of eligible countries enter on the Saudi eVisa, also called the tourist visa, and Umrah on it is perfectly lawful outside the Hajj season; other passports take the dedicated Umrah visa. We read which one is yours from our own rate book and tell you before you pay for anything. Passports generally need at least six months validity, and meningococcal ACWY vaccination is the standard requirement. See the Umrah visa page for the full picture.
Where you will stay
A plan for a UK family opens at a four or five-star hotel within walking distance of the Haram, because that is what most guests from the UK ask for once the questions are asked. It is a starting point and never a ceiling: ask for the cheapest room on the street and that is exactly what you will be shown, with an honest line about the walk it costs you. Every hotel we suggest is named, with its distance from the Haram and why it suits the people actually travelling.
Paying from the UK
Bookings from the UK are paid in full, due within three days, by card through our checkout or by bank transfer with the proof uploaded on your own package page. Instalments are a Pakistan option only, and we would rather say that here than let you discover it at the till.
School holidays and Ramadan
The February and Easter half-terms and the last ten nights of Ramadan are the busiest weeks a UK family can pick, and both hotel rates and Rawdah slots reflect it. Ramadan hotel bookings are non-refundable and non-changeable. If your dates can move by a week, ask us what a shoulder week looks like before you commit.
